Painting Water - £85 (NOW FULL)

From sunlight reflections and glistening water, to crashing waves and waterfalls - we'll explore a range of techniques for painting water, creating a valuable set of reference studies for you to take home at the end of the day

We'll look at resist and lifting techniques, as well as which materials will help you achieve the best effects.

Suitable for all abilities, this workshop offers an inspiring and supportive learning experience to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

  • 10am - 4pm

  • £85 including lunch and a selection of materials to use throughout the day

  • World of Wedgwood, Barlaston, Staffordshire ST12 9ER (free parking on site)

During the course we’ll explore:

  • how to capture the sparkle and reflected light on water

  • the importance of layering colour, tone and texture to build depth in water and create distance

  • resist and lifting techniques, and how different materials and tools can create convincing water effects

  • glazing techniques to help create the transparency of water

  • the changing qualities of water from still, reflective surfaces to movement and crashing waves

  • how to identify and simplify the shapes and patterns within water

  • ways to create a collection of reference studies that will help with future paintings

Throughout the course you’ll enjoy:

  • a variety of samples to support your learning, including demonstrations as and when necessary
