Celebrate the richness, colour and energy that flowers bring to summer. Using them as our inspiration, we'll explore shape, pattern and expressive mark making to discover how colour, texture and layers can bring floral subjects to life.
Whether you enjoy working in acrylics, watercolour or inks, you'll have plenty of time to play and explore ideas before creating a painting that reflects your own love of flowers.
Suitable for all abilities, this course offers an inspiring and supportive learning experience to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

During the course we’ll explore:
the shape and structure of flowers, and which ones are effective for use in paintings
how brushes and other tools can be used to create expressive petals, leaves and other floral marks
how to combine colours to develop a bright or subdued colour palette that works
different approaches to composition from the traditional to more contemporary and abstract arrangements
a variety of mark making techniques to suggest texture and fill voids in the painting with interest
building layers of colour, texture and shapes to create depth and richness
different formats and ways of presenting flowers to develop a painting that feels uniquely your own
